Tuesdays with Kerin: Miles & Smiles

Welcome back to another Tuesday update... on Wednesday! I know I'm a day late, but I'm here. I did manage to publish two blog posts last week though, so yay for small victories! If you haven't already, make sure to check out my birthday post. Moving forward, I'm aiming to increase my posting frequency to twice a week. I'm considering Tuesday and Friday as potential posting days, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter. Additionally, I'm contemplating bringing back my newsletter. While I'm unsure about its content since I already provide weekly updates here, I recognize that not everyone follows me on social media and may miss out on new posts. Let me know your thoughts on the newsletter dilemma!

Last week marked my return to running after a necessary break due to a knee injury. Taking it cautiously, my running program has been progressing at a slow and steady pace. The longest distance I covered last week was 2 miles, a far cry from my previous capabilities. While I acknowledge the need for patience, my main goal is to regain my running form. Despite my pace being significantly slower than before, I remain optimistic that my speed will gradually return. I am eagerly anticipating the completion of my post-injury plan so I can embark on training for a half-marathon.

I've been diligently following my running plan which now includes more mobility work and Pilates sessions to enhance my overall performance. Prioritizing proper warm-ups and cool-downs has become a key focus for me as I aim to prevent any potential injuries. Considering my past experiences, I'm being extra cautious to avoid any setbacks.  To further safeguard against setbacks, I'm contemplating investing in a new pair of running shoes. Initially, I opted for the Hokas Clifton 9 to address shin splints, but since that's no longer a concern, I'm now seeking a shoe that can assist with overpronation and provide better support for my knees. To ensure I make the right choice, I'm planning to visit a specialized running store where they can analyze my running pattern and recommend the most suitable shoe for me.

Throughout the week, my routine mainly revolved around work and running, with nothing particularly out of the ordinary happening. However, this weekend brought a delightful change as I embarked on a sister date on Saturday. We started off by enjoying a meal at a new burger joint, the name of which escapes me now. To satisfy our sweet tooth cravings, we grabbed some delectable treats from Nothing Bundt Cakes for dessert, and leisurely browsed through a bookstore. Although we intended to catch a movie, fatigue got the best of us, prompting us to put it off for another time. The day was a perfect blend of fun, bonding, and good vibes, making me realize the importance of making sister dates a regular occurrence in our lives.

Weekly Obsession: Running Threads! I'm back in my running groove, and I absolutely adore the vibrant community of runners on Threads! It's so motivating to share progress and cheer each other on.

What I'm Reading: Absolutely nothing at the moment. I decided to throw in the towel on Lessons in Chemistry. Just couldn't get into it.

What I'm Watching: I finally wrapped up Tracker. Was it worth all the hours I invested? Not at all! If you're curious about the nitty-gritty details, you can check out my full review on Kerin's Kritiques.

Au Revoir,

~Kerin
