What Black Owned Makeup Brands Should You Support Right Now?

 Hello World!

Happy Makeup Monday!

Today is February 1st, which means it's the first day of Black History Month! In honor of such, I thought it would be nice to take some time to reflect on how far makeup has come for black men and women, or even just brown skin people in general. We are blessed now to live in a time where many brands carry more extensive shade ranges and most brands are making an effort to be more inclusive. There was a time, even in my lifetime, where that wasn't the case. There's where Black Owned Makeup Brands come into play.  These are the brands that have always be there for little brown-skinned girls like me when others were not. And now, there are so many Black Owned Makeup Brands - we actually have options! And that is not only great for me, as an artist, but also it's inspiring for young black entrepreneurs. So if you're trying in get in the right, go ahead and support a Black Owned Makeup Brand! But if you're not sure where to start, I got you.

Here is a roundup of some of my favorite Black Owned Makeup Brands!

Beauty Bakerie

This brand is not only black owned, but also vegan and cruelty. They really became popular for their zero-budge lip whips and their face powder, but now they have a full range of amazing products you can use create a beautiful look

My personal favorite item is the Flour Setting Powder!

 Fenty Beauty

If you don't know this Rihanna owned brand, then you must have been living under a rock. This brand stepped onto the scene and came for everyone, and has just been snatching wigs ever since. Each new product release is just better and better!

My absolute must haves are the Sun Stalk'r Bronzer and the Flyliner!

Mented Cosmetics

The brand started with the quest to create a nude lipstick for those with more melanin in them, but has since expanded to full range of products, including nail polish! And now it's available to buy at Target!

If you're going to buy just one thing, I would suggest the Skin by Mented foundation!

Juvia's Place

The brand is probably best known for their super vibrant eye-shadow palettes. This brand was started to create eyeshadows that were pigmented enough to show up on dark skin. Every palette is beautifully crafted and packaged inspired by the vibrancy of Africa. But they definitely have more than just eyeshadow now. In fact they have one of the most full coverage foundations I have ever used!

I would highly recommend the I Am Magic foundation!

Pat McGrath Labs

No makeup list would be complete mentioning Pat McGrath. From the coveted Mothership palettes to the Skin Fetish foundation everything Mother touches is perfection! Now Pat is going to cost you a pretty penny, but she is worth the coin!

My must haves are the Skin Fetish : Sublime Perfection Foundation and the Fetish Eyes mascara!

So there's some black owned brands to check out.  What are your favorites? Let me know in the comments! If you liked this post, be sure to subscribe to always know about new updates.

Au Revoir,

P.S. Should I do a B.O.M.B. Makeup tutorial?
